During my early childhood in England I was particularly drawn to the beautiful birds and surrounding countryside. After emigrating to Canada with my family we spent holidays exploring the extensive wilderness here. Much later, after a long career in health care I knew that when I retired I wanted to learn how to capture birds and scenery on paper. I took a sketching class on-line during the pandemic and a whole new world opened up for me. Thanks to YouTube and library books I've dabbled in watercolour, and to UK's Demi Lang and Ann Swan, I've fallen in love with colour pencils. The precision and quality of this medium is intoxicating. I now live rurally on a small island in Lake Ontario that is on the flight path for migratory birds. I particularly love to draw birds and old buildings but the lovely countryside provides endless possibilities too.
