I am a new member of the UKCPS so am still finding my feet so to speak.

I am 73 yrs old and self taught. I always liked to draw as a child but did little in my adult life except take an art course when living in Australia.

My husband and I, who have been married to each other twice, recently moved back to England where we were born, having moved, as a young married couple, to the USA in 1968. After we remarried in 2013, when I moved back to the USA from Australia, my husband was still working and I took up graphite pencil drawing to fill my time while he was at work. This led to coloured pencil, and I knew that was the medium for me. I have read a lot of books, watched a lot of videos and learned from trial and error.

I love detail and spend a great deal of time on working on my pieces, most of which come from photos my husband takes. I enjoy drawing just about any subject and find Faber Castell’s Polychromos pencils to be my favourite.

I have entered quite a lot of art shows, in San Diego California USA where we lived, and also online, winning many awards including 2 Best in Shows.

During lockdown I have entered a couple of online shows through Lightspacetime and been awarded Certificates of Special Merit and Certificates of Special Recognition. These competitions routinely have 7 or 800 entrants from all over the world.

Recently my photographer husband and I entered a virtual show put on by our old art group in San Diego, which had over 100 entries. He took 1st place in the photography section, I took 2nd place in the painting and drawing section, and also I took Best in Show with another work. Needless to say we were delighted!

One of my awards from a LightSpaceTime show included a personal webpage on the French art site Artmajeur, where I have had over 10,000 views and some nice responses. Personal Webpage
