I’m Helen and I became interested in Islamic geometric designs during lockdown. I have taught myself the geometric constructions and use Faber Castell Polychromos pencils to colour them. I love the symmetry and complexity of the patterns and the way the final patterns reveal themselves through the complex construction lines. I have learned to tessalate the patterns to create larger designs.
I am happy to share what I am doing but I am very much a beginner with coloured pencils and am learning colouring techniques and experimenting with colour combinations as I go. I have shared the construction lines and the finished drawings so you can see the whole process. This has opened a whole new world for me of geometry, colour, architecture, culture and religious beliefs which gives me so much pleasure.
