Jane Dougall

Self-taught as an artist. Started out in textiles, then gravitated to colour pencils. Spent a number of years living in Japan and then Spain, influenced by both Asian and Islamic designs. Worked briefly for an auction house picking up design ideas. The Russian artist Erte, the Pre-Raphaelites and Art Nouveau also filter through.

I use soft core, waxy, pencils, building up layers of rich velvety pigment. Stylised flowers are my theme.
