I was persuaded by a friend to try watercolour painting as a hobby just over 40 years ago and despite mixed feelings about it I discovered that I really loved being creative. Later I tried pastels when I was asked to do a painting of a much loved dog of a friend of my brother’s. I then decided to try colour pencils and attended several courses by Jonathon Newey, one of the founder members of the UKCPS.
I entered a coloured pencil picture of a gorilla, which was done on black paper, into the SAA Artist of the Year competition in 2018: I managed to get into the final and received a Highly Commended certificate. I have not entered any other major exhibitions but do participate in local exhibitions.
